IIDA NY Hosts Annual Color Invasion Event

The New York Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA NY) hosted its 15th annual Color Invasion event on November 2. Benefitting IIDA NY’s student activities and design awards programs, more than 1,400 attendees from the architecture and design community gathered at the Waterfront New York Tunnel in Manhattan, which boasted interiors reimagined with a “Deep Blue Sea” theme.

The spirited ambience mixed décor and ornamentation—including a mesmerizing kelp garden, seaweed veil, and sailor’s paradise—with performances and entertainment such as stilt-walking ‘man’-ta rays that floated through the Tunnel. With extravagant and inspired costumes, the guests themselves added to the ambiance as well.

Additionally, the IIDA NY collected donations of pajamas and books on behalf of the Pajama Program, an organization dedicated to delivering warm pajamas and books to children in need. A portion of the proceeds from the event were also donated to benefit the Pajama Program.
