NeoCon 2016 is quickly approaching. The annual commercial design show will be held June 13–15 at TheMART in Chicago. With approximately one million square feet of exhibition space, three floors of showrooms, and one floor of temporary exhibitors, the three-day show attracts nearly 50,000 design professionals and is the site of thousands of new product launches every year.
Contract’s May and June issues both feature a detailed preview of the event. The May issue includes the 2016 Official NeoCon Product Preview, which highlights product introductions, keynotes, the Best of NeoCon competition, events (including the 2016 DIFFA/Chicago Illumination Gala and the IIDA Cool Awards Gala), Chicago designers’ favorite places, Chicago art highlights, and a full exhibitor list.
Inside the preview, readers will also find an interview with David Rockwell, FAIA, one of this year’s NeoCon keynote speakers, as well as insight into the product evaluation process from five of the 2016 Best of NeoCon jurors.
Sponsored by Contract, theMART, IIDA, IFMA, and McMorrowReport.com, the annual Best of NeoCon competition, which features 40 product categories ranging from architectural products to fabrics and floorcoverings to furnishings and workplace technologies, will return to the show. Over 400 product entries, which can be viewed by category at contract-network.com, will be reviewed by a jury comprised of industry professionals for the selection of category winners and as well as a Best of Competition winner. Contract editors will also take part in the judging process by selecting the Editors’ Choice awards winners.
The winners will be first announced at the Best of NeoCon Awards Breakfast, held at 7:30 a.m. Monday, June 13, at the Renaissance Hotel. The Winners Guide will also be available to the public Monday morning and will be located in various locations throughout the Mart. You can purchase breakfast tickets here contract-network.com.
On Sunday, June 12, at 4 p.m., Contract will present its annual Inspirations Awards at a reception in the Tandus Centiva showroom, #391. The Inspirations Awards celebrate leadership in socially responsible design among commercial interior designers and architects. The winners are honored for work designed for a worthy cause, and the clients receive a grant from Tandus Centiva, the awards sponsor.
Contract will also be posting takeaways from the show on social media. Follow Contract on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (@contractmag) for must-see highlights from the show.
