Engaging with students is so important for the future and continuity of the design profession. I was so pleased to have been the keynote speaker at the ASID Virginia Student Career Day last Friday in Richmond, Virginia. An audience of engaged, thoughtful interior design students from across Virginia attended the day-long conference to get insights on their portfolios, to learn about industry companies and career opportunities, and to network with each other.
In my talk, I described what I have seen in workplace and hospitality design today, and gave the students words of encouragement to seek the best career opportunities that fit their interests. A number of students had great questions after the talk, indicating that those that attended this career day are serious and focused about their future careers. These are the future leaders of our profession!
Thank you to Melissa Moseley of KSA Interiors for organizing, and thank you to the event sponsors Creative Office Environments, HON, and Haworth for making this important day possible.
