New York designers take a First Look

Last Wednesday, July 17, the New York Design Center hosted its 9th annual First Look, billed as “NYC’s only new contract product event.” All of Contract‘s editors were in attendance, and we visited many showrooms. And while we’d already previewed quite a few of the new products last month at NeoCon, the event allowed New York-based design professionals who didn’t make it to Chicago a glimpse at several companies’ new offerings.

Participating showrooms included: Andreu World America; ArcCom Fabrics; Aristeia Metro; Atlas Carpet Mills; The Bright Group; DARRAN Furniture Industries; Davis Furniture; DECCA Contract; DIRTT Environmental Solutions; Gibson Interior Products; Gordon International; HBF/HBF Textiles; Jasper Group; JOFCO; Keilhauer; Krug; LaCOUR Desking Systems; The Levine Calvano Furniture Group; Luna Textiles; Napier+Joseph+McNamara; Paoli; Primason Symchik; Robert Wilson Associates; SMART; and Versteel.

The design of the Luna Textiles showroom was sedate and sophisticated to best
show off its colorful fabrics.

We called it after NeoCon: fuchsia is the color of 2013! (despite what
Pantone might say about emerald). Fuchsia was spotted all over First
Look showrooms, including the Stylex showroom (above).
