Attendance is up and everyone can feel it at GlobalShop 2011, being held March 28-30. The kickoff keynote, presented by Paco Underhill, CEO of Envirosell, was packed to capacity, as he discussed the "Lessons of the Recession" and the challenges today's retailers face to stay relevant in an increasingly shopper-powered market. Show floor aisles and walkways are packed with people moving in and out of booths, and the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas is brimming with energy.
Emily Dillon, national account director for Cormark, says she could "feel the difference," referring to the postive energy that is permeating the show floor.
When I stopped by the WAC Lighting booth, Jim McMahan, vice president general manager for WAC Lighting, commented that he is "looking forward to making a lot of new contacts," as attendance is visibly greater and there are many new people to meet and connect with.
Pictured left are new mannequin finishes from CNL (booth #2240). I loved the pops of color, especially the female mannequin donning the fashionable red tulle dress, and how the company has married Hollywood glamour with a distinct vintage feel.
Stay tuned as DDI and Contract staffers continue to bring you "live from the show floor" coverage, as well as must-see products, services and booths. And feel free to share your favorite GlobalShop 2011 exhibitors here!
