Looking for a purr-fect opportunity to give back this holiday? Why not support the NYC Feral Cat Initiative, along with The Switzer Group, a New York-based architectural design firm, and office furniture solutions manufacturer Steelcase. To aid NYC’s homeless, stray, and outdoor cat populations this winter, which numbers in the thousands the two organizations are collaborating to host next week the first “Architects for Animals” event, entitled “Giving Shelter.”
Participating design firms will build creative and fun outdoor winter shelters that will benefit the NYC Feral Cat Initiative and provide stray cats with refuge from the season’s freezing temperatures. After the event, the shelters will be donated to caregivers who work with the NYC Feral Cat Initiative.
Participating design firms include: The Switzer Group; Gruzen Samton, Cannon Design; IA Interior Architects; Kohn Pedersen Fox; Davis, Brody, Bond; Zimmerman Workshop Architecture and Design; Tietz Baccon; Ryall Porter Sheridan Architects, and Larry Friedberg, AIA.
The Architects for Animals: Giving Shelter event will be held on December 7 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Steelcase Showroom in New York City. Suggested guest donation is $10, with all proceeds going to the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. RSVP by e-mail to RSVP@theswitzergroup.com.
