UK’s Design Council Fund Supports Design

If you want something done right, do it yourself. The U.K. Design Council is by-passing the middlemen to directly fund design initiatives. The Design Council announced that £100,000 (approximately $150,000) will be distributed in the U.K. to fund and support design initiatives. The Council hopes the funds will help designers nation-wide.

The Design Council expresses in a statement that it expects to "get the message across to business about the benefits of design, drive up demand for design services and put design at the heart of economic growth."

Beginning July 1, national and regional design organizations can apply for grants up to £10,000 (approximately 15,000 U.S. dollars). Most grants will average between £1,000 and £5,000 (approx. $1,500 to $7,200) and fund existing initiatives. These grants are intended to educate on the benefits of design and foster design skills and abilities.
