A Better World by Design makes its grand return in 2010. The second student-run conference, which aims to create tangible change through the use of design, will take place Oct. 1-3 and feature speakers including Ramsey Ford of Design Impact, Robert Fabricant of Frog Design, and Damon Rich of the Center for Urban Pedagogy.
Additionally, the organization will seek student applicants for its design competition, asking student and student-led organizations from multidisciplinary backgrounds around the world to submit design entries that confront and creatively solve some specific problem facing modern cities. The contest opens July 15. Further details will be available soon at abetterworldbydesign.com, and be reported by ContractDesign.com.
Last year, the A Better World by Design conference gathered over 500 leaders in design, business, and related fields in Providence, R.I. The student-led conference seeks to improve the world via design, technology, and social entrepreneurship. The successful first conference was organized by students from Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design. It was featured in Dwell Magazine's article, "How to Throw a Design Conference."
