For most designers and architects, the best reward is a successful project and a satisfied client; but a little extra stimulus now and again is sure to hit the spot. I'm not talking about money, but gratitude and appreciation of design.
Take, for example, this endearing e-mail sent to Michael Graves, founder and principal of Michael Graves & Associates (MGA), a Princeton, NJ-based firm, from a Mrs. Lim. (She and her husband were recently guests at the MGA-designed Michael Hotel, Sentosa Resort in Singapore):
We stayed at Hotel Michael on 22nd January 2010 for 1 night. We would like to share that we really enjoyed our 1 night stay there. I personally love the room designs. It is classy yet cosy. I also particularly love the dressing table foldable compartment, very creative. We love the rain shower, of course if there is a bath tub it would be best. We are very impressed when we on the tv to see the greeting with my husband's name there. It sure creates a personal touch. Last but not least, we would like to share this good news with you, we are expecting!! Why we share this news with you? It is because according to my ovulation chart, the conception date was on the 22nd Jan, it was when we stayed at Hotel Michael! Now i am 14 weeks pregnant, eventhough we do not know the baby gender yet, we are set on naming the baby, Michael if it is a boy. We are very excited, and thankful. Our stay at Hotel Michael has given us the greatest gift that we could ask for. Keep up the good work! And we hope to stay there again soon.
I wonder if the name will help to inspire this youngin' to grow into an architect/designer one day too?
