Who wouldn't want some financial help in today's economy? Well, IIDA and M2L are now accepting submissions for two separate scholarship opportunities
M2L is offering the inaugural Genuine Design Scholarship, to benefit students at New York Eleven Schools. Taking root in M2L's dedication to promoting original design, the scholarship is designed to educate students about knockoffs and their impact on the design industry.
Developed in conjunction with Ruth Lynford, founder of NY Eleven, the competition is open to design students at all participating New York Eleven schools.
Applicants must write a two- to four-page essay on one of three possible questions regarding design authenticity.
Deadline for entry is Feb. 23 (next Monday!), and entrants will be judged by a panel of design journalists, including yours truly.
Four winners will receive scholarships of $3,500, $2,500, $1,500, and $1,000 respectively, and winning and runner-up essays will be announced in the Spring at at New York Eleven event.
And from IIDA:
IIDA New York is now accepting entries for the IIDA NY Annual Scholarship Awards Program. The chapter is offering five $5,000 scholarships in interior design plus 10 one-year IIDA student memberships to winners and honorable mention recipients.
Entrants must be enrolled as a junior, senior, or graduate student in an interior design program at an accredited New York State college or university. Judging will be conducted by IIDA NY's scholarship committee and will be based on the student's stated philosophy of design and the quality of their design portfolio.
